Dance Beat is a recognized qualified dance school that has been operating in the Sutherland Shire for 19 years. It is owned and operated by Ray & Helen Plumridge.

Helen studied dance, drama, and music at the McDonald College of Performing Arts and went on to teach for several years at Fred Astaire Dance School before opening Dance Beat in 1991. Specializing in American Social Style Ballroom, Latin and Rock "n' Roll, classes were initially taught in clubs and halls in Cronulla, Arncliffe and Sutherland. Now following 20 years on the floor bringing people together, she is busy behind the scenes promoting Dance Beat and pursuing her role as Celebrant where her unique people skills bring a special touch to weddings, baby namings and funerals.

Ray joining Dance Beat, added unique and complimentary styles from the UK. As a Teddy Boy himself, he added Rockabilly to the established Rock 'n' Roll stream, which has since expanded to include Jitterbug, Hustle and various popular forms of Swing. His experience in in International style Ballroom & Latin to Gold Bar standard perfectly compliments Helen's Social background giving students the best of both worlds. Over the past 30 years, Ray's music collection and knowledge has grown to a great expanse, as has his experience in DJ work. He runs the regular Dance beat socials as well as Rock 'n' Roll venues on request and private weddings, functions & parties. Ray's specialty - music to dance to, not noise pollution
